Evoking Presence – Kum Nye exploration

Live retreat at World Peace Stupa Center | Aug 3 – 7

Drawn from the books Joy of Being and Kum Nye Dancing with Bram Williams and Abbe Blum.

Join us on this exciting Kum Nye retreat that develops the friendship that The Joy of Being opens, integrating body and mind, with the expressive creativity of Kum Nye Dancing.

During this Kum Nye retreat two aspects of Tarthang Tulku’s Kum Nye vision will be explored:

  1. Evoking Presence
Gradually, as mind turns towards more readily to the positive side of experience, thoughts become more flexible and creative…
As we develop the ability to relax deeply, our energy becomes gentle, almost tender, flowing more freely into the senses and bathing them in rich, flavorful experiences …
The more we enter into this wider and deeper field of perception, the more we dwell in awareness of abundance that is truly our own.
The Joy of Being p. 157

This retreat begins by exploring The Joy of Being exercises, reflections and meditations that orient the mind to joy, using mind’s talents more productively to assure ourselves of a better journey. We can become good companions to ourselves, making mind our friend. The Joy of Being goes beyond the purely physical aspects of relaxation to directly convey the joyful, wide-awake flavor of meditation.

  2. Body and Mind Together, Dance and Play
Kum Nye practice is an approach that allows us to discover that significance fills every experience; each can become a work of art. As we practice Kum Nye, we can develop creativity as a way of being.
    Kum Nye Dancing p.180

Find nourishment and self- expression in a playful, fun and expressive sequence of Kum Nye Dance Gestures. When we practice the gesture, we become familiar with body’s subtleflow of energy. Through movement, energy expresses meaning and liberates the mind. The Kum Nye Dancing postures manifest the understanding that only in the present moment can we find real nourishment and knowledge. These postures ignite the power to engage us now.
